How was the bent notch plate soldered inside the column? I don’t see a slit in the column, so you must have somehow held it place, heated the outside, and also aimed the solder from the column end. You either have some mad skills or there is some trick to this I’m not thinking of.

  Ya I’m a wizard no big deal !! Nah you were correct on your first assumption I used a hack saw to make a slit in the column on an angle. Then slide the notch plate into the slit and solder or braze into place.
